Special exhibition in cooperation with the Künstlerbund
For the first time, the Steinburg Artists’ Association is exhibiting in cooperation with the Prinzeßhof District Museum in the rooms of the former aristocratic palace. The bright rooms on the ground floor are a wonderful setting for the current show, which this year presents a wide variety of works created by members in the years 2022 – 2024. The annual show thus offers a current insight into the work in the studios of the circle. The beautiful, tall glass showcases of the Kreismuseum also make it possible to present series of small objects in the best possible way, a brilliant opportunity to show smaller and more delicate works. 18 members of the Künstlerbund have accepted the invitation and are showing their works from the fields of drawing and painting, collage and assemblage, objects and sculpture. Visitors will be particularly interested to see the new members of the Künstlerbund who joined last year. Dobri Gjurkov, Christiane Caroline Möller, Rufina Schröter, Karin Weissenbacher and Andrea Jünger enrich the exhibition with prints, photography, pictorial objects, ceramic sculptures and installations. In addition to her experimental work with sponges, Andrea Jünger is also offering a workshop in January for anyone who is willing to engage with processes in a playful way. Since 2024, the Künstlerbund has been awarding 2 guest memberships to young artists from the region every year. The first scholarship holders of the pilot project are Rena Holstein and Leonie Mirau, who will be showing Japanese Sashiko embroidery technique as well as graphic novels and zines in the show. They will be demonstrating the technique for producing zines together at a small workshop in January. The show will be accompanied by an extensive supporting program. In addition to lively guided tours of the exhibition for school classes, children and adults, accompanied by small work tasks, the Künstlerbund and the Kreismuseum are looking forward to lively participation in the making of Christmas angels from clay and cordially invite you to an excursion to Svea Gustafsen’s studio, where you can try out working with flowing clay and hollow plaster molds. As part of the opening, the Künstlerbund will present its annual portfolio for 2024. The portfolio is published annually and combines numbered and signed works by 5 participating artists in a limited edition of 10 each. The Prinzeßhof District Museum and the Steinburg Artists’ Association cordially invite you to the opening on November 17 at 11:30 am! Inken Carstensen-Herold, 2nd deputy district president, will give the opening address. Esther Wrobbel, M. Am. Director of the District Museum and Janina Arlt, 1st Chairwoman of the Steinburg Artists’ Association, will introduce the exhibition. Afterwards, a champagne reception and a small snack await you in the foyer of the museum. Registration is requested at prinzesshof@steinburg.de.
