Breitenburg Castle of the noble family Rantzau is one of the most important sights of the Itzehoe region. In its almost 500-year building history, the manor house developed from a fortified Renaissance seat into a historicist country chateau.
The castle is famous for its Hall of Mirrors, the Hall of Knights, the Thorwaldsen Gallery and the valuable library, the old castle chapel with crypt, the wrought-iron crowned fountain in the castle courtyard and its landscape park. The tour of the castle is possible only by appointment.
