St. Marien is one of the oldest church foundations in the North Elbe region. The present church building dates back to the 13th century; in 1580 the church underwent major changes and acquired its present appearance. Until 1826 the church was located in the outer dike, formerly on a small Wurth.

The valuable furnishings that you can visit include two Marian images from early and late Gothic, an altar from 1580, the Triumphal Group, the bronze baptismal font and the pulpit from 1648.
