The Arthur Boskamp Foundation M.1 was established in 2003 in memory of Arthur Boskamp (1919-2000), an entrepreneur with an interest in art. The exhibition house is located in the historical building of the massive barrack 1 of the former military camp in Hohenlockstedt.
The purpose of the foundation is to administer the artistic estate of Arthur Boskamp and to promote young, contemporary art and artists. Two sponsorship prizes are awarded each year. Annually changing curators implement their own concepts in the exhibitions and projects.
