The Große Tonkuhle in Itzehoe is a quarry pond created by clay mining. The idyllic natural bathing place is located on the north shore.

The Tonkuhle is also used as fishing water by the SAV Itzehoe. The area of this still water is about 9500 m² and it is characterized by the large water surface, the partially gravelly shore area and the structurally rich woody stands. Particularly striking here are the numerous willows that have grown far into the water.
